Footprint – let‘s minimize it

Our Origo 2 and Equipe premium trolleys are designed for high hygiene, modularity, and safety standards. It includes features that support resource efficiency: customers can choose between buckets and containers made of standard plastics or versions made of recycled polypropylene ranging from a share of 50% to up to 90%. Some of these recycled options are certified with the “Plastica Seconda Vita” label.

Another example is our Eco Broom range, which is made from 100% recycled materials. This range features housings made of 100% recycled polypropylene (PP) and fibers from recycled PET, available in both soft and hard bristle versions.

Many of the products in our Swep and Microfibre cloth range have been awarded the Nordic Swan 3.2 Ecolabel, showing they meet strict requirements relating to the sustainability of raw materials and production processes.

Our Evolon® textiles are long-lasting materials designed for demanding applications and generate less waste than conventional alternatives. No solvent is used to generate the microfilaments and no chemical binder is used during the Evolon® manufacturing process. A fine example of all this is our r-MicronQuick cloth which can last up to 400 washes and is made of up to 70% recycled fibers.

Many of our products are packed without secondary packaging; for example, our mops are packed in cardboard boxes only, where the cardboard is made of more than 90% recycled paper.

Furthermore, you will find multiple products per package, which also significantly reduces the amount of packaging per product.

Our long-term goal is that by 2030, 100% of all packaging will be recyclable, reusable, or compostable.

End-of-life considerations are an evolving focus in the cleaning equipment industry, where performance, application and cost were previously the primary drivers. However, environmental impact management must include the entire product lifecycle. That’s why End-of-Life stages are integrated into the Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) we conduct for some of our product categories, and hopefully more in the future.

Here are some examples from our product range:
Vileda Professional sponge cloths are fully bio-degradable, as they are made out of 100% cellulosic material based on wood and cotton.
Many of our products are mono-materials and or can be easily disassembled into them (e.g. our Origo 2 Mop Boxes and 6L Buckets), making them suitable for immediate recycling for a second life.

Plastica Seconda Vita label

Most of the Origo 2 and Equipe buckets and containers from Vileda Professional are 'Plastica Seconda Vita' certified, confirming they contain at least 50% recycled plastic.

The “Plastica Seconda Vita“ label is an environmental product certification system dedicated to products derived from the recycling of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste. We have decided to underpin our environmental efforts by using this label, which places emphasis on complete traceability.

The official Ecolabel of the Nordic countries was introduced in 1989 and has been the standard ever since. Any product carrying this internationally recognized Ecolabel meets strict environmental criteria throughout its entire life cycle. Today, more than 100 Vileda Professional products (TSUs) carry this certification, with many maintaining it consistently for over 10 years.
