Handprint – let’s maximize it
While the environmental footprint is covering the consumption of resources at our side which includes raw material selection, manufacturing, packaging, and transportation, the environmental handprint represents the specific, measurable resource savings achieved by our customers during the usage phase of our products depending on the product and conditions of use.
We aim to minimize our environmental footprint while maximizing the handprint, which represents the specific resource savings achieved during product use. In essence, a positive handprint on our products supports a reduction in environmental impact by optimizing water, chemical, and energy consumption during cleaning.
Within the Vileda Professional range, selected products illustrate how the environmental handprint can influence Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results. For example, durable cleaning textiles are designed for a high number of use and laundering cycles, which can reduce the environmental impact per use when compared to lower-durability alternatives. The extent of this effect depends on actual usage conditions, including cleaning practices and product lifetime.
Our products are designed to support reduced use of cleaning chemicals and water, while enabling ergonomic use. The preparation and use of cleaning tools can also play a key role: product durability, efficient laundry processes, and the potential to reduce energy-intensive tumble drying can contribute to lowering operational impacts.
Our initiatives to maximize our customers’ handprint:
Microfibre technology
Microfibre technology
Vileda Professional were the pioneers in bringing microfibers into the professional cleaning markets. Through launches of own technologies such as Evolon®, Vileda Professional was and still is driving this innovative segment to the max.
Microfiber cleaning textiles (cloths, mops) provide enhanced cleaning performance compared to conventional non-microfiber textiles. They are designed for streak free and residue-free removal of stubborn or fatty dirt, such as fingerprints, and can be used effectively with reduced chemical agents or even without, supporting lower resource consumption during use. A key example in our product lineup is the PVAmicro range.
Unmatched durability
Unmatched durability
Product durability is an effective way to reduce raw material consumption, as a longer product lifespan decreases the frequency of replacements. Vileda Professional products are designed for high cleaning performance and extended durability in professional use.
For each new product, we extensively test both the durability a s well as the machine washability: some products can achieve more than 1,000 disinfection laundering cycles. This is demonstrated, for example, by the SWEP Duo r MicroPlus Pro, tested for up to 1,000 washes at our internal lab with chemical thermal disinfection at 60°C. A careful choice of components and production technologies is required to ensure a constant cleaning performance and fit-into-the-system over the whole lifetime.
Leading ergonomics
Leading ergonomics
You may ask: how does ergonomics relate to sustainability? Simply put, sustainability is not only about environmental considerations, but also about the wellbeing and occupational health of the people using our tools. The physical health of professional cleaners is a valuable resource, and prioritizing it is a core component of responsible operations.
We prioritize the well-being of the hundreds of thousands of cleaning professionals worldwide. Our tools are engineered to minimize physical exertion and are designed for intuitive use, reducing the need for extensive training. By focusing on ergonomic design, we support the long-term physical health and operational performance of cleaners.
